Moss, born on 13th February 1977, is an ex-American player in the field of
football. He was an American football player who played for 14 years within the
National Football League (NFL) which included the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland
Raiders as well as the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. Many consider
him to be the greatest wide receiver in history alongside Jerry Rice, he holds
the NFL single-season record for touchdown receptions (23 in 2007) and the NFL
single-season record for touchdown receptions for a rookie (17 in 1998) and is
ranked second on the NFL all-time regular season touchdown list, with 156. Moss
was famous for his skill in securing contested catches and the word
"mossed" is now part of the football lexicon. Post-football, he was
working with ESPN as an analyst in its studios for the Sunday NFL Countdown and
Monday Night Countdown programs. Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia. He
attended DuPont High School. It was one of two schools that was later
amalgamated into Riverside High School. There the student excelled at football,
basketball, track, and other sports. Randy was also on the school's debate
team. Moss was a DuPont Panthers' football player who led them to two
consecutive state championshipsin 1992 and 1993. The position he excelled at
was wide receiver. But Moss also played safety for free, punted kickoffs, and
was the team’s punter and kicker. He received the Kennedy Award for West
Virginia Football Player's of the Year in 1994. Parade magazine named him to
their annual All-American high school football team in 1995 and in 2009, named
him one of the 50 greatest high school football players of all time.
