Abigale Lee
Miller(born on 21st September 1965) is an American choreographer, dance
instructor and reality TV personality. Abby Lee Dance Company is her original
creation and was a reality show that aired for eight seasons on Dance Moms. On
June 27, 2016, Miller pleaded guilty to felony bankruptcy fraud. She was
sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison and was released on March
27 of 2018. The diagnosis of lymphoma was made in April 2018. It is a form of
cancer that renders you in a position to not walk. In order to move about she
relies on wheelchair. Miller was raised in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. She was a
dancer and studied under her mother at Maryen Lorrain Dance Studio. Miller aged
14 at the time, was tasked with choreography and coaching for one of her
mother's dance teams. Miller took control of the studio , and it was renamed
Reign Dance Productions in 1995. Miller was certified by Dance Masters of
America, and was also a member of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania Chapter 10
(February 1986). However, DMA terminated her membership in February 2012 due to
Miller's reality TV show Dance Moms was a "complete mistaken portrayal of
our teachers and students" and was harmful to the profession.
